After installation, it can isolate the car paint from the air, prevent acid rain, oxidation, scratch, and provide long-lasting protection for the paint surface. Automotive PPFs have high consistency and optical transparency, and are available in various thicknesses and colors to choose from. The new product is multi-layered and provides a self-healing topcoat that can self repair after being worn or scratched, maintaining transparency for over ten years. Some suppliers' products also offer hydrophobic properties, similar to those provided by ceramic coatings. Modern applications require a slick solution or gel as a barrier to prevent film adhesion to painted panels. Custom and advanced applicators use steam, Heat gun and torch to help apply film on complex surfaces. The pre stretching and pre forming of thin films are also used for complex wrapping and bending.
